Salt Lake Education Foundation
LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR
The Development and Salt Lake Education Foundation Department (SLEF), is committed to improving the lives of our students and families within Salt Lake City School District. The impact is felt every day in our community and with our partners. Recently, Rose Park Elementary, a Title 1 school, had a 10 year old student who is nearsighted and only about 1-2 feet and everything else he looks at blurry. The Dr. was brought to tears when this student could resist take the phoropeter during the exam and pressing it back in front of his eyes and for the very first time he could see every details. He went from not being able to see ANY letters on the big chart, not even the large E. This is just one story of many, but it illustrates a way to measure our impact and success of our active role in our community.
The commitment to providing students and families support through core academic and extra-curricular programs opportunities, exposure to the visual arts, performing arts, and music, and access to community services and classes. All these opportunities enhance the student’s lives, school engagement, and understanding of themselves and the world around them.
It is my hope to share many more stories like our little student from Rose Park. Thank you for the significant results and endless opportunities that you, The Salt Lake Education Foundation Board of Directors, have created as you have diligently work with parents, community councils, business partners, colleges, and volunteers to improve the educational opportunities at for all students in the Salt Lake City School District.
We encourage you to continue to be a part of each story, please visit our website, to donate and/or actively get involved and work together to accomplish our goal of reaching out to our students and families
